Deep Tissue Massage is a more focused Swedish massage session that shortens recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes. It increases circulation without increasing heart load and stretches the ligaments and tendons, keeping them supple and pliable. The therapist will identify specific problem areas and customize each treatment to release aches, restrictions and spasms from exhausted muscles. Deep tissue massage is perfect for someone looking to participate in the session, provide feedback, and learn more about their physical self
Stress, bad sitting positions, long travelling by car, excessive fitness trainingwork on the computer: all these things can cause muscle stiffness, neck- and backpain, even headaches. The purpose of a deep tissue massage is to release the sticking points in the deep underlying muscles of the body. This is achieved through slow, strong holds, pressure points, and the use of friction. A deep tissue massage helps loosen old holding patterns in muscles, releasing toxins and improving circulation. I will also use stretches when I can to release tightness in deeper areas.
It is common after a deep massage to have some soreness, even the occasional light bruise, for a day or two. But this is usually accompanied by a relief from the more constant pain and is usually welcomed by clients. If at any time in a massage you feel that the pressure is too much, or if after a massage you were too sore, please say something to the therapist and they can modify their approach for your next session. Everyone has a different comfort level with pressure and it takes communication to find the right technique for the individual.
Myofascial Release
Fascia is the connective tissue that surrounds the muscles, organs, and nerves in our bodies, even surrounding each individual cell and linking everything together. When we have areas of restriction or pain it is more often the result of a group of tissues rather than just one specific muscle.
Myofascial Release is a technique used without oils or lotions applying slow steady pressure in order to encourage release in the tough connective tissue. It can often feel like stretching to the client.
Swedish Massage $45
Swedish Massage is what most people have come to expect when they get on the table. It refers to a variety of techniques specifically designed to relax muscles by applying pressure against the deeper muscles and bones, and rubbing in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart. Swedish massage increases the oxygen flow in the blood and releases toxins from the muscles. It reduces stress, both emotional and physical, and is an integral part of a personal wellness regimen.
Heated basalt stones and warm massage oil are combined to provide a unique and comforting treatment. The therapist uses traditional strokes of Swedish massage while holding a heated stone, and may also leave heated stones in specific points along your spine, in the palms of your hands, or even between your toes to improve the flow of energy in your body. Warm stone massage is suited to people who tend to feel chilly or those who have muscle tension, but prefer a lighter massage. The heat relaxes muscles, allowing the therapist to work on problem areas without using deep pressure.
